🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫
Many parents from our group pinged me in private for the recipe of the homemade chocolate.
Here it goes.......... This Tasted like Diary milk. Very easy choco sweet which can be made in just 10 mins and satisfy the kids chocolate craving sensation. Big hit at our home

Ingredients:
Milk powder 200 gms
Sugar 3/4th cup to 1 cup
Cocoa powder 3 tblspoon
Butter 3 tblspoon (shoul be in room temperature, should not be hard)
Water 1/2 cup
Chopped nuts like Cashew or walnut or peanut

Method:

Mix dry Cocoa powder and milk powder. without any lumps in a bowl
Greese a plate with ghee and keep it ready to pour the sweet mixture
Heat a heavy bottom pan and add water and sugar.
Boil till you achieve one string consistency (to find this, put a drop of this mixture in a small cup of water, it should not get dissolved, it should settle and for a small ball).
Once it attains this consistency, put the butter and mix well.
Pour the cocoa mixture immediately after the butter melts.
Mix well, do not add excess water, it will look as if the water content is less.
Exactly after 2 min, pour the sweet mixture to the greesed plate and spread
after 5 mins jus draw markings with a knife or a pizza cutter
Allow it to cool completely and then remove it into pieces.
Canbe kept for more than 5 days when refrigirated..

Let me know your feedback after trying the same

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Dear Friends,

Its been 2 years since we launched Shikakai powder, Green gram(Payatha maavu), thanks to all for encouraging us to take it to the next level. We have been receiving requests from many of you to launch Pure Kasthuri Manjal Powder (Wild Turmeric) for daily usage, so we have planned to share pure kasthuri manjal powder. This Kasthuri Manjal is brought from Country medicine shop, sun dried and is being grinded in a machine which is used exclusively only for grinding turmeric alone. So there is no possibility of any chilly powder getting mixed or any other flour getting mixed.

Kasthuri Manjal/ Wild turmeric is a product which is used only for external purpose. This is not a normal turmeric which we use for cooking purposes. It is very fragrant and aromatic. Below are some advantages of kasthuri manjal

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;">Wild turmeric treats a variety of skin diseases from acne, eczema to insect bites on the skin.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;">It is very fragrant than the normal turmeric.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;">This Turmeric is a natural antiseptic and natural deodorant which helps in getting rid of body odour and other unwanted bacteria developing in the skin

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;">Widely used for babies as it minimizes the growth of hair all over the body.

Dear Friend's,

I started this blog 3 years ago , when my second child was 1 yr old. Then as she grew up, did not find time for blogging. Till now I have blogged only cooking recepies. But this time its different. Its about one of our Ancient Indian practice which is using Shikakai for washing our hair.

I have gone to my native for vacation. Generally during summer my Mom and my Grand Mother prepares the items which can be dried and used for the whole year. Two items from that are SHIKAKAI Powder and PAYATHA MAAVU (Green Moong Powder used for washing face) .I hope we all are aware of Shikkakai Powder which includes many ingredients for the growth and health of hair. From my birth i have been using this Shikakai powder which is homemade. This time I have planned to learn the recipe from my grand mother and do it myself. Incase any of you need Homemade Shikakai Powder just let me know, I'll do it in bulk.

Please note that I am not doing it as a Business. I am also a Mom of two kids. I generally try to restrict my self from buying these kind of items outside. But nowadays we do not have time to do all these things because it is a long process and time consuming. So I thought I would help mommies like me to do this process. As this is not a business , I will collect orders and make as per the requirement. This is a product which can be prepared only during hot summer , so i may not have extra stock. In case you need it later , you can always let me know as I can do this process during October month (Purattasi month in tamil) when the sun is at peak.

For now I will take orders for Shikakai Powder and Payatha maavu (Mainly used for babies)

You can find below , the ingrediants and uses of the items I am using for making Shikakai and Payaytha Maavu. I buy all the items from reputed shops like Dabba Chetty Kadai, Mylapore , which is well known to Chennai people. It is a Nattu Marundhu shop which is there for more than 4 to 5 generations.

Bajra or Kambu is a millet gown in India which has a high nutritional value. Bajra is rich in iron, vit B, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin. It has same quantity of protein as wheat. Sometimes we used to have less dosa flour for making dosa. During that time I used to add some bhajra flour and little rice flour to the dosa flour and increase the quantity of dosa flour. All healthy items will be wasted by our kids so you can add the bajra flour to this to make it healthy and nutritious. You get ready made bajra flour in all departmental stores.

A parotta or barotta, is a delight and common layered flat bread of Southern India and Bengal. This is not to be confused with the North Indian Paratha. It is prepared with Maida, and Oil/Ghee by beating the mixture into thin layers and later forming a round bread with the thin layers. Usually, parottas are relished with vegetable kuruma or Peas Masala. I have tried a new version in this parotta by adding Dry Methi Leaves. These leaves are rich in aroma. Whenever you add this to your dish it smells and tastes good too. This stays soft for longer time as we knead it with ghee, so this is a good lunch box recipe.

Method :

1. Take a bowl and Mix Maida, salt, dry methi leaves, Turmeric powder and ghee
2. Add water and knead well. The dough must be very soft only then the parottas will turn soft.
3. Cover it with damp cloth or close it tightly for 15 min.
4. Take one portion and roll it as much as you can with a rolling pin, apply and spread oil and stretch it very thin . It might tear in some areas but its ok.
5. Sprinkle dry maida all over the stretched dough. This will help to form layers.
6. Now using both your hands fold just like making a paper fan. Start from one side and finsih on the other end.
7. Stretch it lengthwise and roll it tight so that the layers are visible. Repeat the process for rest of the dough and keep it aside.
8. Heat the tawa. Now take one rolled portion and roll with rolling pin in just one side. Do not turn like chapathi.
9. Make small disc and place it in the hot tawa.
10. Turn and Pour oil on both the sides and cook till you see nice brown spots.
11. Flame should be in Medium throughout the frying process.
12. Serve with veg Kurma or Peas Masala.
Even if he says no as a mom I have to make him eat as beetroot is very good for blood circulation and its a grerat source of Fibre and you cannot avoid colour in any beetroot recepes.
One day our close family friend called me and told that they will come to our house in half an hour, but I did not have any sweet at home. There was not much time for me to make a sweet and I was not able to go out as both my kids were small. Suddenly I remembered that my mother in law used to make a halwa in jus 15 min. So I called her and asked the correct measurement and receptive of that halwa. It really came out well. Easiest and fastest sweet. You jus need corn flour at home. Our friend came and thought that it was pumpkin halwa from a sweet shop. And when I said it was made by me they were really shocked. Let me share the secret recipe with you.

Method :

In a Kadai add a tsp of ghee and fry cashew and badam till golden brown and keep it aside
Take 3 cups of corn flour and Add kesari powder
Out of the 4cups of water take 3 cups of water and mix it with corn flour without any lumps.
Now in a Kadai add the left out 1cup of water and add the sugar and stir well The sugar should completely get dissolved.
Meanwhile take the tray in which you are going to pour the sweet and grease it with ghee
When there is no sugar granules add the corn flour mixture (Jus mix the corn flour before adding because corn flour tends to settle at the bottom)
Stir continnuously for jus jus 5 min Add cashew and badam to it and mix well for 5 more min.
When it becomes thick and starts becoming like a jelly(do not wait till it becomes like jelly)jus pour I the greased tray.
Do not keep the mixture for long time in the gas as if it is overcooked it will become like rubber.
That's all your Halwa is ready in jus 10 min without any vigorous and continues stirring. I am sure no one will believe if you say that this is a sweet made in 10 min.

It was a sunday morning and we did not have a drop of water in our apartment as there was some problem with the motor and we were waiting for the tanker to come. When I was thinking about our breakfast I saw that I had a bread loaf in my refrigerator , so my hubby told me to give Bread with Amul sheet cheese for my son and he would get something for us from a hotel. When I went and saw the refrigirator ,there was no sheet cheese. when I asked my son he told he ate the cheese one by one , and I never knew that it was over. So I decided to use spread cheese , I thought I 'll add some basic vegies so that it would be filling for him. I had not tried this before U'll not believe , it came out very well that we cancelled our Hotel plan and we also took the same cheese toast for our Breakfast.
Rava idli is a recipe which I make for my kid when we all have upma. Because my son will not have upma , he will say its spicy because of ginger bits and green chilly and we cannot have upma without that. So I used to take the same rava which is roasted and same veg for our upma and boil it in idli plate for my kid. So it will become easy for me. U know feel Rava idli is better than upma , so ill also have one or two in the name of my son.

Bengal gram - 1 tsp

Urud dhall - 1 tsp

Curry Leaves

Method :

Roast Rava in a pan ,transfer it to a vessel and allow it to cool.

Then add one cup of curd and mix well and add salt

U can add baking soda now. I have not added in my recipe as it for my kid and not good for health also. Baking soda can be added if you need the idli's fluffy otherwise its not necessary. the idli will be soft even if you do not add baking soda.

Keep it aside for 15 to 20 min.

Cut carrots into small bits, chop coriander also.

Take a kadai add oil or ghee for kids and mustard.

When it splutters add Bengal gram, urud dhall and curry leaves

Now add carrot bits ,so that it will not have raw mell when you eat.

Jus fry for 2 min and add it to the rava idli batter

Now add half of the chopped coriander leaves.

Mix the batter and dilute with water.

The mixture must neither be thick nor watery, it should be like idli batter

Grease the idli plate with oil and pour the batter in the mould and cook for 15 - 20 min.

You can poak the idli with knife and check if it is done.

Serve hot with chutney or idli milagai podi (I love ravaidli with idli podi)

If it is kids they can have with jam or cheese.

You can use Baking soda when you serve for guests so that the idlis will be soft and fluffy.
